Recommended Links and Forthcoming Posts at BtT

Feb 21st, 2009 by Nathan Finn Print This Post

There are a number of interesting articles that have appeared on the web in the past few days. I thought I would point out a handful of them.

In case you missed it, new BtT contributor J. D. Greear blogged here yesterday about his views on Calvinism.

My fellow SEBTS church historian Steve McKinion weighs in on “Third Generation Conservatives in the Southern Baptist Convention” at Baptist 21. This is the first post in a three-part series.

Tom Ascol asks the provocative question, “What Will We Be in the SBC?”

The Baptist State Convention of North Carolina has several great articles related to last week’s state evangelism conference, which was hosted by SEBTS. See the following:

“Bruce Ashford: God’s End Game,” by Doug Baker

“Ed Stetzer: Evangelism as Reconciliation,” by Melissa Lilley

“Robert Smith: Exegetical Escort,” by Doug Baker

“Danny Akin: Still Chapter and Verse,” by Doug Baker and Melissa Lilley

“David Platt: Commission a Command,” by Joy Rancatore

Be sure to also check out Doug Baker’s Insight Podcast on church planting with urban pastors Tyler Jones, Sean Cordell, Daniel Montgomery, and J. D. Greear. You can read the press release here and listen to the podcast here. The topics include postmodernity, urban minstry, the Acts 29 Network, and the future of the SBC.

In closing, let me give you a brief preview of some forthcoming posts at BtT. Danny Akin will pick back up with his series on pastor leadership. Alvin Reid and I will finish up our “exercise in bridge-building” with a final post about Calvinism and the SBC. I will also post on the relationship between the  Conservative Resurgence and the Great Commission Resurgence. Bruce Ashford will review some more books that will help us better understand our global context. David Nelson will weigh in again on the topic of worship. Bruce and David will also offer a tribute to a recently departed friend and mentor.
