You are absolutely correct to not be optomistic. Even the best Southern Baptist is a frail and fallen human being. Our hope as Southern Baptists had better be in God. If not, there is no program or slogan that will help us. I think you are just pointing out things that many of us have been concerned over for a long while, we have never been in a position to have anyone listen to us. I don't think your smartness - or the self-proclaimed lack thereof - has anything to do with it. I see it more as God orchestrating your life to put you in a position to be the voice the rest of us needed, As with Esther, maybe you are where you are with the influence you have to keep some of God's people from disaster. That does not take ability - it takes availability. God will do the rest.

Look forward to reading this. One of the main things that we might do, in my opinion, is concentrate of faithfulness and doing what we can do with excellence, and not fixate on size. All denominations are down for lots of reasons. That should keep us from fixing problems and improving. I just don't want to be chasing "success" as a denomination, as that can be and has been idolatrous. But I am intersted in being faithful and being effective.

Look forward to hearing from you.
