If you love students, serve as a student pastor, associate, intern, or are a parent or simply love youth, mark your calendar for October 11. On that day we will host a conference offering a time of networking with student pastors and leaders in our region, a time of learning from leaders and one another, and of course, some Chick Fil-A!
From noon to about 5 that day on our campus we will host this event, featuring the following:
Jeff Lovingood, a 31 year veteran of student ministry with tremendous wisdom. Jeff now leads ministry for all ages at the great Long Hollow Baptist Church near Nashville, Tennessee. He and I will also be teaching the course Missional Student Ministry the week of the conference;
Jason Gaston, Student Pastor at Summit Church RDU, a ministry marked by a commitment to international missions and being missional in our region;
Merrie Johnson, who leads youth ministry at our North Carolina Baptist State Convention and who is more connected to student ministry in our state than anyone;
I will also be speaking for just a bit about how God has used and is using students in remarkable ways for His glory, and previewing my forthcoming book As You Go: Creating a Gospel-Centered Culture of Missional Students (NavPress).
We have a special treat as well: Ashley and Cole Gorman (well, they will be Mr and Mrs as of September 2!) will join us. Ashley cowrote the ebook The Book of Matches with me. It’s a little book about gospel-centered relationships and is a great tool for anyone working with youth or single young adults.
The cost is $10.00, and every person will get lunch and Jeff Lovingood’s new book, Make It Last. We have people coming from as far away as Georgia, so if you are in a half day’s drive, come join us!

This would be a great conference to bring your student ministry team or just a couple of volunteers and/or parents. It would also be a phenomenal day for any students you have who sense a call to ministry.
